Guardians
Guardians play a significant role in ensuring a safe and memorable experience for each Veteran. Guardians are typically responsible for transporting their Veteran to and from training and to and from the airport on Flight Day. Guardians are the main point of contact between Honor Flight and the Veteran. In order to be considered for the Guardian position the applicant must:
- Be between the ages of 18-75 years old. (Individuals over 75 who apply are subject to individual review.)
- Be intellectually, physically and emotionally capable of caring for their veteran (Pushing a wheelchair, extensive walking, extreme weather, able to lift 100 pounds) and able to participate in a demanding day.
- Must not be a spouse or significant other.
- Attend the MANDATORY Guardian Training session prior to flight day.
- Pay the $500 Guardian fee. (Please note the Guardian fee covers only a portion of the actual expenses of the Guardian so Sponsors are critical to Honor Flight).
